HERNIA REPAIR

GALLSTONES

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is minimally invasive surgery to remove the gallbladder. It helps people when gallstones cause inflammation, pain or infection.

APPENDICTIS

Appendicitis begins with fever and pain near the belly button and then moves toward the lower-right side of the abdomen. This is often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fever and chills.

CHOLECYSTECTOMY

The surgery to remove the gallbladder is called a cholecystectomy(chol-e-cys-tec-toe-mee). The gallbladder is removed through a 5 to 8 inch long incision, or cut, in your abdomen.

CBD EXPLORATION

When gallstones move to the bile duct and potentially cause a blockage that prevents the gallbladder from draining that condition is said to be Choledocholithiasis

How is laparoscopy performed?

Creating the incisions:

The surgeon creates small incisions in the abdomen, usually between 5 and 10 millimeters in length, through which a laparoscope and other specialized surgical instruments are inserted.

Inserting the laparoscope:

A laparoscope, which is a thin tube with a camera and a light source at the end, is inserted through one of the incisions. The laparoscope sends images to a video monitor that the surgeon uses to guide the surgical instruments.

Performing the procedure:

The surgeon uses specialized instruments inserted through the other incisions to perform the necessary procedure. These instruments are designed to perform the same functions as traditional surgical instruments, but they are smaller and more maneuverable to fit through the small incisions. After the procedure is completed, the instruments are removed, and the incisions are closed with sutures or surgical glue.
